and we hope that the experience was of benefit to you all. Thank you for all your efforts and indeed to your families and the ‘chauffeur’

for bringing you to the classes, practices and to the Fleadh which was not always most convenient.

We wish best of luck to all our qualifiers at Fleadh Laighean in Muine Beag , the 9th to 15th of July next.

Wishing all competitors from all Laois Branches the best also.

Branch Registration 2016/17

Portarlington Comhaltas welcomed all our regular musicians back and many newcomers/beginners to our Music Classes for the coming season over this past the Weekend.

Great enthusiasm, smiles and music filled the Assembly Hall of the Boys’ School on Patrick Street over Friday Night and Saturday Morning. Old pieces were resurrected and played as well as tunes learned over the Summer break. Plans were laid for the time ahead and new undertakings spoken of and agreed.

Class have now resumed and with the demand increasing we advise that if you wish to be part of the Branch activities to get yourself into shape as quickly as you can.

Fiddle Players July Workshops.

Tonight, Friday 29th July saw the winding up of 4 tough weeks of Fiddle Player Makeover at our Branch. Over to 16 players under 12 descended on the  Assembly Hall in the Boys’ Primary School for some intensive work on the “do-s and don’ts” of Fiddle Playing.

Excellent players all, we hope that they found some benefit and no little fun in the process, even with the threat of Nettles.

Congratulations to everyone on their application and hard work at practice and also to all the Parents who stayed and ‘suffered’ alongside.

We hope that they keep on working and keep aware of the things pointed out over the course of the ‘Makeover’.

We will have to speak to Gerry shortly to see if something similar can be set up in September for other instruments.

Branch Cathaoirleach Robert Gleeson conducted the ‘Makeover’
